Your Course-Ending Test

Way to Go!

You have now reached the end of the content for the "Electrical Safety for Emergency Responders" Course. Some of the main "take home" points of this course were:

  • Where electricity is concerned, risk assessment is crucial: how is the electricity involved and how can I best protect myself and others?
  • It is important to understand how electricity works and to remember that electricity seeks all paths to ground. Similarly, you need to keep in mind how step potential and touch potential can impact an emergency response scene.
  • Where electrical installations are involved, be sure to contact the local power supplier to make the scene electrically safe before you proceed.
  • Where a residence is concerned, remember when you might need to use a fog nozzle and how to use it, and that removing the power meter is not a recommended way of isolating the power.
  • Always remember that crowd control and managing the scene are crucial components of protecting yourself and others from the hazards of electricity.
  • Remember to always assume that downed power lines are live.
  • Know how to deal with energized vehicles and equipment and how to help others to deal with energized vehicles and equipment.
  • Where electrical burns are concerned, no matter how minor the burn looks on the outside, these types of injuries must always be brought to medical attention.
  • Electricity is an important part of our lives! Know how to deal with it in an emergency response situation!

In order to receive your certificate of course completion, you need to answer the following twenty test questions and then complete an online form to be able to print out your certificate. When you take a test, you are demonstrating your ability to understand the course content. The test forms the basis of evaluation or judgement for your course of study.

The required achievement level for this test is an 80% score. This means that to successfully complete the course, you can get no more than four questions incorrect on the 20 question test. It is important to remember that, where safety is concerned, you should set only the highest levels of expectation for yourself. Anything less than 100% and you may not be around to try again another day.

The test is set up so that you will not be able to proceed once you have more than 4 questions incorrect. Your achievement status is tracked in the bottom window of the test taking page. If you do not reach the required achievement level on your first attempt, you will be asked to exit the testing area and take the test over again. Once you achieve the required achievement status, you will go to a web page where you must enter some basic demographic information to print your certificate and wallet card.

The test covers all of the information covered in the course. If you wish to review any of these sections, single click on the link below to access the information. When you are ready to take the test, return to this page and then single click on the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page.

As you complete the questions online and submit the responses, a new question is generated until you reach the end of the test. When you take a test, you are demonstrating your ability to understand the course content. The test forms the basis of evaluation or judgement for your course of study. Some important test-taking hints are to stay relaxed and confident, carefully read the question all the way through, then each possible answer all the way through. All the best on the test and thanks for taking this course through the College of Electrical Knowledge!
