You have now reached the end of the content for the "Electrical Safety in the Workplace" Course.

The following are some highlights of things to keep in mind regardless of the work setting:

  • All employees must actively participate in workplace safety.
  • Only those tools that are in good repair, with all guards and safety devices in place will be used. All damaged or worn equipment is to be promptly taken out of service for repair or replacement.
  • All tools are to be used for the purpose in which they were intended and in accordance with safe work practices and procedures.
  • All persons are responsible for keeping their work area neat, clean, orderly and safe. Good housekeeping practices must be maintained in all work areas.
  • All employees are prohibited from arriving to work or remaining at work when their ability to perform the job is impaired. As well, there should be no consumption or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs on the work site.
  • Theft, vandalism or any other abuse or misuse of work property is prohibited.
  • Vehicles and mobile equipment must be operated in accordance with site rules and highway regulations.
  • Everyone must wear proper approved personal protective equipment as prescribed by the regulations. It is important to wear all appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • All accidents, injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, and practices are to be reported to your immediate supervisor.
  • First Aid is to be obtained promptly for any injury.

In order to receive your certificate of course completion, you need to create your own learning contract with yourself. In this learning contract you will define how you will actively promote and participate in electrical safety in the workplace. A learning contract is a very personal document. It is a written document that formalizes what you want to do and how you are going to do it. Think about what you have learned in the process of completing this course. Think about the ways that you might want to integrate aspects of what you have learned into the work that you do.
